Previewing Auburn's September 12th homegame against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
Auburn's next opponent defeated Alcorn State 49-3 last Saturday (9-5-26) thanks in part to 3 interceptions from cornerback Kobi Albert. Auburn will look to cut down on interceptions this week as SEC play approaches.
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (1-0) will come to town for the first home game on the plains for the 2026 season. First year head coach Blake Anderson will look to build on last week's victory which saw his team put up 589 yards of offense against FCS competition.
Auburn (1-0) will be a much different challenge. Auburn will look to clean up some mental mistakes and get some much needed live game reps as the offensive line continues to acclimate to their new teammates.
Blake Anderson's squad runs more than they pass, but they did attempt 23 passes in week 1. Quarterback Ethan Hampton completed 13 of those passes and added a touchdown with 1 INT. Mario Sanders is his favorite target and a receiver to watch on Saturday along with Steven Robinson: the Golden Eagle who ran for 123 yards and 3 TDs in his season opener.
Coach Alex Golesh did not share any roster changes or injuries that would prevent key players from participating in the upcoming game, so this week's lineup should be the same or similar to last week's. The game is a WHITE-OUT (fans are encouraged to wear white), and is the 23rd straight home sell out.
The game will be broadcast on SEC Network and is available to stream on the Watch ESPN app (if you have a provider login) or on ESPN+. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45pm central time from Jordan-Hare Stadium. Radio broadcasts are available through Auburn sports affiliates. The broadcast booth features play-by-play veteran Andy Burcham and former Auburn star quarterback Jason Campbell on color commentary.
