Auburn, Ala. — A former Auburn University employee has been arrested and charged with theft of trade secrets and computer tampering, according to police and court records.

David Rudolph Jenrath, 24, of Franklin, Tennessee, turned himself in to authorities on Monday after warrants were issued for his arrest.

According to the Auburn Police Department, the charges stem from an incident in the 300 block of South Donahue Drive — near the university's football and baseball facilities — where proprietary athletic information was allegedly stolen and transmitted to competitors.

Police reported that a competitor who received the confidential records alerted the victim organization.

Court filings allege Jenrath stole "confidential proprietary information consisting of Auburn University Athletics information" without consent and tampered with computer systems "with the intent to harass Auburn University Athletics by disclosing... to their opponents."

Jenrath was booked into the Lee County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
